Our DAF equipment stands out for its ease of use and durability. We have several models that can treat wastewater volumes ranging from 5 m3/hour to 1000 m3/hour. This wide range of equipment allows us to offer an efficient solution for the different objectives and requirements of our customers.
Dissolved air flotation is the most efficient technology for the removal of suspended solids (TSS), oils, grease and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) from wastewater and other industrial process streams.
DAF FPAC flotation unit
The DAF FPAC equipment is ideal for working with small and medium flows, containing high pollutant loads. They are also the most suitable model for sludge thickening. They have a large free surface to accumulate the floated sludge.

The DAF FPAC flotation equipment is a large surface flotation clarification and cross-flow separation system.
The system has been designed to treat wastewater flows with a very high load of suspended solids and other contaminants, which require a large flotation surface to ensure good flotation and separation of solids (up to 40kg of dry matter per m² can be treated).
The pressurized and dissolved air flotation systems treat contaminated water that is introduced at one end of the machine and expels the same clean water at the other end.
SIGMADAF technology is used to separate oils, greases, suspended solids and flocculated matter, which do not have sufficient flotation capacity or when oil-solids emulsions (with high density) require air flotation to improve the separation process.
The use of micro bubble technology (30 - 50 microns) increases the separation efficiency. The smaller the bubble, the better it can adhere to the particles, enhancing the efficiency of the system.
The DAF FPAC system is a high performance, high quality system with differentiated features.
The FPAC model includes a single motion separator that rotates against the hydraulic current helping to minimize the distance the floated sludge travels and eliminating solids carryover in the effluent. This solution creates a sludge with a dry solids content 3 to 4 times higher than a conventional system. This results in a simplification of possible subsequent treatments, such as dewatering or drying, which reduces operating costs.
Heavy sludge, which settles to the bottom of the system, is retained, concentrated and partially dewatered by the shaftless conveyor system. This allows the operator to control the concentration of the sludge and reduce its accumulation. The residual sludge is conveyed to the central discharge point and removed through an automatic pneumatic valve. This discharge cycle has a self-cleaning effect, which allows any particles adhering to the walls of the system to be released and removed with the rest of the waste.
The system is equipped with a saturator-manifold, a recirculation pump and a control panel to regulate the air supply to the aeration module and the sediment discharge valve.

DAF FPBC flotation equipment
It is ideal for high flow rates and low contaminant loads. It incorporates internal lamellar circuits to minimize water flow velocity in a reduced total volume.

The DAF FPBC flotation system is a separator designed to treat low to medium load wastewater, even those containing low buoyancy particles.
The system is based on the principle of countercurrent flow through an inclined plate pack. Water is introduced into the system in a cross-flow configuration, which significantly reduces the distance solids must travel to separate effectively. An inclined lamella plate pack is installed inside the compact separator for maximum effective flotation area. The separation rate is determined by the flow rate (Q) and the effective surface area of the plate (S), therefore, particles that reach a higher upward velocity (through aeration of micro bubbles) than the overflow velocity (Q / S) are separated.
Due to the application of plate separation technology, separation efficiency is maximized with very low hydraulic ratios, making the separators compact and effective.
As in the other models, the use of micro-bubbles contributes to optimize the efficiency of the process, as smaller bubbles easily adhere to particles of the same size or larger, increasing the overall efficiency of the system.
The DAF FPBC is a high-performance system with distinct features
The distance that the floated sludge travels is reduced by a single separator movement that rotates against the hydraulic current, thus eliminating the dragging of solids in the effluent. During this process a sludge is produced with a dry solids content that is 3 to 4 times higher than that created by other conventional systems. Thanks to this efficiency in the separation of solids, the complexity and costs of subsequent treatments are reduced.
The heavy sludge settled at the bottom of the flotation equipment is retained, and partial concentration and dewatering is carried out by the shaftless conveyor system. This allows the operator to control the concentration of the sediments and prevent their accumulation. The residual sludge is removed through an automatic pneumatic valve. The discharge cycle has a self-cleaning effect, which releases and removes any particles adhering to the walls along with the rest of the waste.
The system is equipped with a saturator-manifold, recirculation pump and a control panel as standard to allow control of the air supply to the aeration module and the sediment discharge valve.

DAF FPHF flotation equipment
The FPHF model is designed to treat large flows and, at the same time, work with all types of pollutant loads.

The DAF FPHF flotation equipment is a separation system that represents an improvement over lamella plate technology thanks to a combination of cross-flow and countercurrent flow.
This model was originally developed for the treatment of large flows with substantial suspended solids content.
High flow treatment requires better flow distribution. The inlet area of the lamella packs is divided into equal parts to ensure full and even use of the entire lamella surface within the system. In practice, very low hydraulic loading ratios are achieved compared to conventional plate separators, which mostly have a hydraulic ratio of at least 3 m³ per m² per hour.
As in all our DAF systems, the use of micro-bubbles (30 to 50 microns range) increases the efficiency of the equipment, because undersized bubbles easily adhere to particles of the same size or larger.
The DAF FPHF is a high performance system specially designed to treat large flows with high pollutant load.
The system works by a single separator motion that rotates against the hydraulic flow to minimize the distance the sludge floats and eliminates solids carryover in the effluent. As with all our models, the DAF FPHF produces a sludge with 3 to 4 times the dry solids content of a conventional system. Thanks to this efficiency, the costs and results of subsequent treatments are optimized.
Heavy sludge is concentrated at the bottom of the system, where it is retained for concentration and partial dewatering by the shaftless conveyor system. Thanks to this functionality the operator can control the concentration of the sludge and reduce its accumulation.
The residual sludge is conveyed to the central discharge point, where it is removed through an automatic pneumatic valve. The discharge process has a self-cleaning effect that removes any particles adhering to the walls along with the rest of the waste.
The system includes a saturator-manifold, a recirculation pump and a control panel that controls the air supply to the aeration module and the sediment discharge valve.

MEGADAF FPAC/FPBC-CW SYSTEM
The FPAC/FPBC-CW flotation equipment are separation systems built in concrete tanks. They are high capacity equipments, designed for large treatment plants, both for water and wastewater.

Our MEGADAF systems operate with flow rates above 1000 m3/h per DAF unit and can treat various pollutant loads depending on the application and type of water. They can be made without lamellae (FPAC-CW) or with lamellae packages (FPBC-CW), which allows to reduce the occupied surface and the volume of the flotation tank.
SigmaDAF designs and manufactures the complete system, which can treat both municipal and industrial water and wastewater.
The coagulation and flocculation stages, which take place before entering the DAF, are implemented in chambers built on the same concrete structure, with gravity flow to the DAF outlet. These chambers are equipped with vertical agitators, which mix the chemicals with the water to be treated to create aggregates of suspended solids or flocs, which will be easier to separate in the DAF by flotation.

The formation of fine air bubbles is achieved in the pressurization and aeration circuit, which consists of the following components:
- Recirculation pump
- Air-water saturator tank
- Nozzles or depressurization valves
- Flotation air control panel

DAF FPAC/FPBC-CW flotation equipment incorporates a chain surface scraper and paddles to sweep the floated sludge into a collection chamber located at the end of the tank, which is built as part of the tank in concrete. They can also incorporate a submerged scraper at the bottom of the tank to sweep settling solids. These scrapers are manufactured with chains with GRP blades and plastic links (POM polyoxymethylene or acetal), with sufficient mechanical strength and resistance to chemical agents.
The separation and removal of the floated and settled solids is completed with blowdown valves (manual/automatic). The sediments in the inlet chamber are removed through hoppers, which are located at the bottom of the concrete tank, by means of drain valves. In addition, hoppers can be placed in the lower part of the flotation-sorting zone of the DAF tank to collect the sediments carried away by the scraper. In all solutions it is advisable to have a sediment purge system, both in the clarification zone and in the contact zone at the DAF inlet.
The clarified water is discharged through the lower part located at the end of the tank, by means of perforated collectors located at the bottom, or through windows in the lower part of the separation wall of the flotation-clarification zone with the clarified water compartment. The recirculation pumps of the pressurization circuit take the water from this clarified water compartment and send it to the air-water saturation tanks.
MEGADAF FPAC-CW (without lamellae)
This DAF system is designed to work without lamellae in the flotation tank, with low hydraulic loads (10 - 20 m³/m²/h) and with higher flotation-clarification surface. It can incorporate perforated clarified water collectors at the bottom of the tank, which allows working at the upper part of the speed range or hydraulic load.
SIGMADAF FPAC-CW technology is used to separate oils, greases, suspended solids, flocculated matter, or oil and solids emulsions with high density that require air flotation pretreatment to improve the separation process.
This type of DAF is best suited for wastewater with a high solids load. They can act as primary clarification, or as a secondary treatment after a biological reactor, where the limiting design factor is solids loading (kg/m²/h) rather than hydraulics.
MEGADAF FPBC-CW (with lamellae)
This model is designed to work with lamellae in the flotation tank, which improves the flow regime and avoids preferential paths with better flotation performance. The DAF FPBC-CW systems can operate with high hydraulic loads (20 - 35 m³/m²/h), which reduces the flotation-clearance surface and the volume of the DAF tank. It does not require perforated collectors in the tank and can incorporate a bottom scraper in addition to the surface scraper.
FPBC-CW units are used as pretreatment in water treatment plants and in desalination plants to separate suspended solids, algae and pollutants present in surface water (river, reservoir, lake). They can also be used as primary clarification units in wastewater treatment plants with presence of oil and grease.
The FPBC-CW units incorporate a submerged lamella pack (polypropylene tubular or stainless steel or GRP plates) and a scraper to collect floating sludge. They can also incorporate a submerged scraper if some of the solids are expected to settle out, thus preventing sludge from accumulating at the bottom of the tank. The flow through the lamella pack is downward, which facilitates the attachment of air bubbles to the solids particles in the upper part of the lamellae and the settling of the larger, heavier solids in the lower section of the lamella pack. These settling solids are collected by the scraper at the bottom of the tank.
