The SIGMADAF FPHF flotation system is a separation system that represents an improvement over the existing lamellar plate technology that uses a combination of cross flow and countercurrent flow.
This technology was originally developed for special applications of high flow rates with a substantial content of suspended solids.
The entrance area of the lamella packs is divided into equal parts to ensure the complete and uniform use of the entire lamella surface within the system. In practice, very low hydraulic load ratios are achieved in comparison with conventional plate separators, which mostly have a hydraulic ratio of at least 3m³ per m² per hour.
Dissolved air flotation (DAF) technology is used to remove oils, fats, solids and suspended flocs that do not possess sufficient buoyancy to separate; or where an emulsion of oils and solids (with higher density) requires flotation with air to improve the separation process.
The use of micro-bubbles (range of 30 to 50 microns) increases efficiency, since smaller bubbles easily adhere to particles of equal size or larger, which increases the overall efficiency of the system.
The SIGMADAF FPHF is a high performance system with different unique characteristics.
It includes a single separating movement that rotates against the hydraulic current helping to minimise the distance travelled by the floating sludge and eliminating the drag of solids in the effluent. With this solution, a sludge with a dry solids content of 3 to 4 times greater than a conventional system is created. The result is a reduction in the need and size of any future treatment, such as dehydration or drying, which, consequently, reduces operating costs.
The heavy sludge that forms a sediment at the bottom of the system is retained, concentrated and partially dehydrated with the shaftless conveyor system. This allows the operator to control the concentration of the sediments and reduce their accumulation. The residual sludge is transported to the central discharge point and is eliminated through an automatic pneumatic valve. This cycle of discharge has a self-cleaning effect, and facilitates that any particle adhered to the walls of the system is released and eliminated with the rest of waste.
The system is equipped with a saturator-manifold, recirculation pump and a series control panel to allow control of the air supply to the aeration module and the sediment discharge valve.
