Treatment of high flow well water

Scenario

Metito, one of the leading engineering companies in the design and construction of wastewater treatment plants, asked SIGMADAF to supply equipment for the treatment of well water.

This project is developed in collaboration with the municipalities of the area and the Public Water Company of Serbia (PWC), whose objective is to support the Republic of Serbia in the fulfillment of its Water Management Strategy and its sustainable development goals, through the construction, modernization and operation of advanced water treatment plants.

Description of supply

SIGMADAF supplied a set of equipment for well water treatment, consisting of two dissolved air flotation (DAF) units, model SIGMADAF FPHF 750.

These units, designed to operate with a flow rate of 750 m³/h, include physical-chemical treatment systems by coagulation and flocculation. The FPHF model is ideal for high flow rates.

Both DAF units were fully integrated into the existing treatment plant, ensuring the plant's operational continuity at all times.

The supply comprises 2 lines with the following equipment

• A coagulation tank of V= 35 ^m3 built in GRP with a 2.2 kW agitator.
• Two tanks for flocculation (2 stages), V=35 ^m3 built in GRP with 2.2 kW agitator.

Included are electro-pneumatic control panels, tubbing and wiring to junction boxes, engineering, erection supervision and commissioning for the equipment supplied. 

Results and yields

The installation supplied by SIGMADAF has the capacity to treat 750 m³/h of well water, achieving a total suspended solids (TSS) concentration ≤10 mg/l and a 50% reduction in chemical oxygen demand (COD), all with automatic operation and control via a remote intelligent system.

The floats are equipped with lamella packs that provide a high projected surface area, allowing operation at high upward speeds and significantly reducing the size of the equipment.

In addition, the equipment was supplied with GRP covers to minimize environmental impact.
