U-shaped

Unique on the outside, unmatched on the inside: SIGMADAF's U-shaped signature
Dissolved air flotation (DAF) and decentralized membrane bioreactors are established technologies in wastewater treatment. They have a standardized design and a very homogeneous appearance, regardless of the manufacturer.
This is not the case with SIGMADAF equipment, whose construction includes a structure with external U-shaped reinforcements, which completely transforms the way this equipment is built, perceived, and performs.
Our DAF and MBR equipment stands out for its performance, but also for its unique design. Each unit is built to offer maximum efficiency and durability. That's why our equipment is original on the outside and unmatched on the inside.
Why sigmadaf opts for U-shaped design

Intelligent construction maximizes performance, reliability and durability.

Functional advantages that improve the use, maintenance and service life of SIGMADAF equipment.

Unique and unmistakable appearance: the SIGMADAF identity visible on every piece of equipment.
Intelligent construction
The 'U' shaped external reinforcements used by SIGMADAF wrap the tank of our equipment around the base and sides. These reinforcements run along the entire outer surface and provide high mechanical strength without altering the tank geometry.
This structural configuration results in a highly differentiated aesthetic of our equipment.

Create a compact and robust body, resistant to internal pressures without the need for complex internal reinforcements.

Reduce the number of seals and joints, improving watertightness and simplifying maintenance.

Give our equipment a clean, solid and recognizable external appearance, impossible to confuse with standard solutions.

Allows for more controlled manufacturing and faster plant installation.

Real functional advantages
U-Shaped geometry is more than just a visual identity, it also optimizes equipment performance and durability. These are some of the most outstanding advantages:
- Easy access to internal components from the outside, thanks to a clear and open perimeter structure.
- Increased structural rigidity without adding unnecessary weight.
- Better stress distribution in walls and corners, minimizing deformations.
Recognizable at first sight
Thanks to their wrap-around structure, SIGMADAF equipment has a unique visual profile. Our customers recognize it immediately on site: it is not a generic equipment, it is an equipment built by SIGMADAF.
This exterior design also reflects an underlying commitment to quality, precision and industrial reliability.
Advantages of U-shaped external reinforcement in stainless steel tanks

Better resistance to internal water pressure
- The U-braces act as external "braces" that help contain the expansion of the walls due to hydrostatic pressure, especially on the long sides of the tank.
- This is crucial in rectangular geometries, where pressure tends to cause bulging ("drum" effect).

Buckling control in thin panels
- Stainless steel tank walls can buckle under pressure. U-profiles provide additional rigidity to prevent permanent deformation.

More uniform stress distribution
- By partially wrapping the edges, the U-braces better distribute the loads between the support points and the tank corners, reducing stress concentrations.

Improved structural integrity in bolted or welded joints
- Many rectangular stainless steel tanks are assembled with panels. U-braces reinforce the joint lines, preventing panel separation and increasing the durability of the seals.

Compatibility with thermal expansion
- U-profiles allow a controlled degree of bending and expansion of the material without compromising tightness, which can be critical in stainless steel tanks exposed to temperature variations.

Easy inspection and maintenance
- Unlike internal reinforcements, external U-shaped reinforcements do not interfere with the usable volume of the tank and do not hinder sanitary or internal corrosion inspections.
