DAF system for removal of pigments, paints and dyes from waste water

  • Objectives: Wastewater treatment in the textile industry, where pigments, dyes and paints are produced, is complex due to the necessary removal of heavy metals present in the water.
  • Equipment installed: The treatment of these complex waters consists of ammonium removal by stripping followed by a DAF FPBC50 Dissolved Air Flotation System after addition of lime, coagulant and flocculant.

Start-up of industrial wastewater treatment plant to remove pigments, paints and dyes from water.

Wastewater treatment in a pigment, dye and paint production process is complex due to the necessary removal of heavy metals present in the water.

For this project, in which a DAF-FPBC50 was installed, the treatment of this complex water consists of ammonium removal by stripping followed by a dissolved air flotation (DAF) system, after addition of lime, coagulant and flocculant.

This process results in a significant reduction of heavy metals and fluorides, allowing the treated water to be discharged directly into the sea.

The treatment plant treats this wastewater by eliminating the pigments and suspended solids present, thus allowing its subsequent discharge into the sea with total guarantee.

The application of the SIGMADAF System as heavy metal removal equipment, using lime slurry, offers very high performance and facilitates subsequent sludge management.

Here we can see the performance of the DAF-FPBC50 in terms of suspended solids and pigment removal.

The beaker on the left contains a sample of the wastewater to be treated and the one on the right contains a sample of the water leaving the flotation equipment.
